The city of Leskovac boasts of a long entrepreneurial tradition and a dynamic micro, small and medium companies sector, with developed food processing, textile, chemical and wood industry. There are 930 companies and 4093 entrepreneurs in Leskovac.

The total number of employed people in Leskovac is 29955. 22422 employees work in these companies, while 7533 in the non-commercial sector.

The city of Leskovac has developed institutional frameworks for local economic development and NALED has certified it as a city with business friendly environment.

The most significant Greenfield locations, formed in order to secure new investments, are Greenfield zone which occupies the area of 971,500м² and the Northern industrial zone with the area of 41,022 м², both of which are connected to all utility networks.

            A significant aid and support to the local self-government of the city of Leskovac is provided by the Office for local development, which operates within the Department for community and local development of the city administration of the city of Leskovac.
